World car of the year: finalists

The first list of finalists for the World Car of the Year Award is ready, and we will meet the winners in April during the New York Auto Show. The 'World Car of the Year' is one of the most prestigious awards in the automotive industry and is rated by 66 renowned journalists from all over the world. The Porsche 911 is the only one nominated in both categories: sports car and car of the year.

The 10 finalists for best car of the year are:

3. BMW 1 Series
4. BMW 3 Series
5. Chevrolet Volt
6. Citroen DS5
7. Ford Focus
8. Land Rover Evoque
9. Porsche 911
10.Volkswagen Up!

As sports cars have their special touch, this award also has a category just for this model type.

The finalists for the best sports car of the year are:

1. Audi RS3 Sportback
2. BMW 1 Series M Coupe
3. BMW M5
4. Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
5. Ferrari FF
6. Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4
7. McLaren MP4-12C
8. Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG
9. Mercedes-Benz C63 Coupe AMG Black Series
10. Porsche 911

These lists of 10 finalists will be reduced to 10 during the Geneva Auto show, and then we will know what the winner is on April 5 during the Auto show in New York.
