Hi everyone, I'm new over here. I just saw on your site a Ford Explorer XLT 2001 for $2,500, which is an affordable and fair price for me since I'm a student and I only have a part-time job to pay for it. I would like to know if somebody can tell me what the risks of buying a Ford Explorer so cheap ?? It has 175k miles, how many more miles do you think I can run it ?? Thanks for any review or opinion about this SUV. If any Ford Explorer with high miles owner reads this and can tell me a little bit about their experience, I will appreciate it. smiley

I saw the ad on: [link removed, sorry]

I saw the ad. For $2,500, this Ford Explorer looks good. It is also so cheap. You can't imagine how much this SUV would cost in a third-world country in this same condition, probably more than $10,000. But well, your concern is about whether you are gonna have to take it to the workshop, eh?? The answer is a little bit obvious: an SUV with $175k miles ?? You never know how the old owner treated it. My advice is to check its CarFax and see its history. If I were you, I would try to get a smaller vehicle for about $3,000 with fewer miles and cheaper to maintain. I check out the Autopten listings and they just published a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier for $3,990. It is a good vehicle, and you are going to save more money on gas. Dealing with the dealer, you can get it for $3,500, I guess.

Good luck, buddy! smiley

Thanks for the advice Yeah, I was thinking better, and the spending on gas would be fatal for my low budget. Ford Explorers don't have a good reputation regarding gas consumption.
