As for its engine, the German company chose the same motor as its 'hatchback brother', the EA888, a 4-cylinder 2.0L TSI turbocharged direct-injection engine that develops 210 HP, which can be paired with both a manual and an automatic DSG transmission.

What stands out the most about the exterior design of this 2016 GLI, is the sports line that is reflected thanks to the new grille, small spoilers and the integrated fog lights in the bumper. At the rear of the body, the difference with the conventional model is that it includes a subtle air diffuser with twin exhaust pipes. It also comes with 18" aluminum wheels with Mallory design and a sports suspension specially adjusted.
The passenger compartment has the general finishes of the brand and the inclusion of the information and entertainment system, MIB 2, with USB and Car-Net connectivity.
At the same time, the available equipment is divided in two different trim models, SE and SEL, both offering features such as Blind Spot Warning, sunroof, post-collision braking, Bi-Xenon lights with LED technology, rear parking camera and powered driver's seat with all the regulations, among others.
The AFS, which is available only on the SEL model, rotates the headlights up to 15 degrees to help illuminate the curves in the road more effectively at speeds greater than 6 mph.
The new 2016 Jetta GLI will be produced at the Puebla (Mexico) plant and will be marketed in the coming months.
