• Bad time for Japanese cars

Toyota and Honda had to recall thousands of cars in the whole world because technical problems, and now, its quality is in doubt.

The second bigger manufacturer of cars in Japan, Honda, announced last Tuesday the recall of more than 437,000 cars in the whole world due to an airbag failure, while its rival, Toyota, continue fighting with the technical problem that obliged them to recall millions of cars.

The Honda failure affects mainly to vehicles in North America, specially the Honda Civic and Accord models, produced in 2001 and 2002.

When the airbag security cushion blows up in case of an accident, is there a possibility of the inflator cause a break of its wrapper and this one generates a dispersion of airbag fragments due to the abrupt increase of the internal pressure, with the risk of the car passengers get injured, explained Honda in a press release.’

They are a 378.758 of the total cars in United States, 41.658 in Canada and the rest are around the world, included Japan (4.402). According to Honda, a total of 514.355 cars passed through the garage between November of 2008 and July of 2009 caused by the same problem.

This technical problems of Honda, were produced when the first Japanese manufacturer, Toyota, is implicated in a series of problems with their brakes pedals and the accelerator in some models. Toyota has had to check since the last autumn more than 8,67 millions of cars in the whole world, among themselves, 437.000 hybrids.


Toyota announced the last Wednesday the suspension for a week the production of hybrid models SAI and Lexus HS250h, manufactured in Japan, whose sales were interrupted due to the failures in their brakes system.
