• Volkswagen Polo, the winner to the World Car of the Year 2010

On the occasion of the New York Auto Show 2010, one of the  most anticipated events was the award ceremony World Car of the Year 2010,  proving the best car this year in four different categories: best car of the  year, best car high benefits, better eco-car and car with the best design.

From a list of up to 35 different models, and after several  screens at events like the Ginebra Motor Show, where 10 finalists were selected  from each category, the winner finally was known in New York. The Volkswagen  Polo took the trophy of World Car of the Year 2010, while the Mercedes E-Class  and the Toyota Prius accompanied them as finalists.

"Within the most competitive segment of the automotive  market, the new Polo MkV is one of the top products of Volkswagen. Within the  compact segment manageable, due to its elegant appearance, reliability and  quality has gotten to be consistently among the best-sellers in the  market", said the jury for the "World Car of the Year Award".

In the category of "2010 World Performance Car of the  Year" won the Audi R8 V10, which according to the jury has the ability to  satisfy the desire for a road car in the thrilling sensations of the Audi R8  LMP 1 which dominated the Le Mans Series since 2000.

The Chevrolet Camaro won the title of best designed car of  the year (2010 World Car Design), while the Volkswagen's BlueMotion gamma,  among which are the VolksWagen Passat, VolksWagen Golf and VolksWagen Polo,  took the title of best eco-car (2010 World Green Car).
