Toyota Motor Corporation is a multinational Japanese company, which in 2008 was ranked as the number one in the automotive market.
Along with Nissan and Honda, Toyota has positioned himself as one of the "big three" Japanese, challenging to the "big three of Detroit automakers” GM, Chrysler and Ford.
Toyota is the sixth largest company in the world according to Fortune Global 500, displacing the Chevron Company in all lists in terms of revenue and growth.
The group also engages in industry of textiles, through the manufacturing of automatic looms and sewing machines that are available globally, besides of being part of the Formula One team since 2002.
With headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, the company was founded in 1933 by Kiichiro Toyoda and is now being commanded by his grandson, Akio Toyoda.
Toyoda, also is the son of Shoichiro Toyoda, who headed the company between 1982 and 1992, and still today, at his 83 years, is honorary chairman of the firm, though its 52 years is considered too young to become president of a company, according to Japanese royalty.
Experts believe that the choice of Toyoda as head of the Toyota company was only a symbolic measure, intended to change the mood of workers.
